Thousands Of Marchers Expected To Take On Trump's Climate Policies

Marchers protest against climate policies on Trump’s 100th day in office

People are taking to the streets in Washington D.C. on Saturday for the People's Climate March, calling for climate action on President Donald Trump's 100th day in office.

Tens of thousands of environmental activists are expected to march in the USA capital city Saturday in an effort to draw support for climate-related causes.

Thousands of people across the US are marking President Donald Trump's hundredth day in office by marching in pro.

Participants surrounded the White House complex and staged a choreographed sit-in, beating their chests 100 times to symbolize both the president's time in office and the heartbeat of the environmental movement.

The gathering, already a familiar sight during Trump's nascent presidency, came together under the banner of the People's Climate March. Dozens of "sister" marches are planned for other North America locales, from Anapolish Royal, Nova Scotia, to Dutch Harbor in Alaska's Aleutian Islands.

Ruth Marchetti was marching with the Catholic Family Center and said climate issues are societal problems just as much as they are environmental.

This is the second People's Climate March.

"We are here to rise up and let self-interest-driven politicians like President Trump know we will no longer allow them to rig the system in favor of greedy corporate polluters".

The group marched from City Hall to Washington Square Park in downtown Rochester.

"Since the 2014 People's Climate March I have been traveling through 11 countries, mostly by bicycle (and sometimes by boat)".

"President Trump's First 100 Days plan is a clear sign that he will fast-track profits for corporations before he invests in the needs of the American people". But he says even Trump can't stop a steady shift to solar and wind as record low prices make them more competitive than ever.

The People's Climate March, which originated with a massive demonstration in NY in September 2014, picked a symbolically striking day for its 2017 installment.

DiCaprio marched alongside an indigenous rights group, carrying a sign saying, "Climate change is real".

"Only one candidate in the General Election came to speak to you, and that candidate is now the President of the United States, standing before you again", the President said, eagerly reminding the crowd that few people gave him a chance to win a year ago.
