Moto focused on slimming down for the Z2 Play

This legacy may not continue with the Moto Z2 Play since the device is supposedly going to feature a 3000mAh unit that will last for up to 30 hours. The first generation Moto Z was well known for its slim profile and exceptionally good battery life. With a full millimeter and 20-gram reductions in depth and weight, respectively, the Z2 Play comes closer to - but still doesn't match - the original Moto Z's impressive 5.19-millimeter thinness.

Earlier this year, the press renders of the yet to be official Motorola Moto Z2 Play hit the web. From what they've learned, the new phone will have a 3,000 mAh battery. The Z2 Play will boast a Snapdragon 626 with a 2.2GHz clock speed. We want to know if the brand can do something about the stagnant tablet market.

The Android 7.1.1 Nougat-powered Moto Z2 Play will therefore be 6mm thick and weigh 145g. The original Z Play has a 16MP, f/2.0 ratio. The internal storage is doubled and set to a satisfying 64 GBs.

Motorola Mobility's Moto Z Play started receiving the April 2017 Android Security Update on Friday, as reported by one owner of the device who recently took to Reddit to provide screenshots proving that their smartphone is running Google's recent security patch.

Finally, Lenovo chose to replace the 16-megapixel rear-facing camera with a 12-megapixel one, but image quality should not be worse thanks to the camera having f/1.7 component featuring dual auto-focus. The camera will also feature dual autofocus pixels. The device is one of three handsets in the refreshed Moto Z2 lineup. We were seriously impressed with the battery life of last year's Moto Z Play, so we're obviously not happy to find out that the Z2 Play might not be particularly awesome in this regard.

Android Police doesn't offer any information about a possible release date, but just the fact that Motorola has a prototype of such a device is interesting in itself.
