San Antonio Spurs win in Houston to take series lead

LaMarcus Aldridge #12 of the San Antonio Spurs shoots the ball against the Houston Rockets in Game Three of the Western Conference Semifinals of the 2017 NBA Playoffs

LaMarcus Aldridge and Kawhi Leonard each scored 26 points and the Silver and Black carved out a hard-fought 103-92 road win over the Houston Rockets on Friday night, taking a 2-1 lead in the Western Conference semifinal series. The timeline for his recovery and return has not yet been determined, the team said in a statement.

Parker scored 18 points on 61.5 percent shooting in Game 2, and he's second on the team with 15.9 points per game in the playoffs.

Parker, 34, is a four-time National Basketball Association champion and longtime leader for San Antonio - which many believed could be Golden State's final hurdle for a third-straight Finals appearance.

Now, the Spurs will likely turn to Patty Mills to start in Parker's place. Spurs officials said Parker will undergo an MRI on Thursday morning and update his status after, but Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said following that game that "its not good".

In four games during the regular season, the Spurs beat Houston three times, but the games featured the following margins: two points, two points, two points, and six points.

Parker's team meanwhile were looking ahead to life without the guard as they prepared for Game 3 of their series against Houston later Friday. "No excuses, we're just going to go complete and play our best game in Houston", he said. Parker finished with 18 points and four assists in the Spurs' 121-96 victory, and was instrumental in orchestrating an offense that produced a 59.7 effective field-goal percentage against a Rockets defense that excelled in Game 1. Two huge voids as they go toe-to-toe with the high-powered Rockets in hopes of another trip to the Western Conference finals.

James Harden put up 43 points, but he needs help getting buckets.

Tony Parker will miss the rest of the playoffs. The loss of Parker takes one more scoring option away from San Antonio. Spurs owner Julianna Hawn Holt rose from her courtside seat to point and scream at an official after Parker exited the game. "Just blessed I'm able to make a few plays tonight to help us win another game".

Since joining the Spurs in the summer of 2015, Aldridge's points per game have decreased by 6.1 points. "Of course he's going to be missed", Popovich said.

"I don't know what it is but I just like playing here", he said.

The Spurs did the unthinkable in game one, losing at home in a crushing 126-99 collapse at the hands of MVP candidate James Harden, 27, and his crew.
