No World Cup easybeats, Cheika warns

In-form England were drawn in the toughest pool for the second Rugby World Cup in a row when they were grouped with France and Argentina for the opening round of the 2019 tournament yesterday.

Ireland face Scotland and hosts Japan with Europe 1 and the final play-off victor in Pool A.

Band two contained Scotland, France, South Africa and Wales - the teams now ranked fifth to eighth - and band three was made up of Argentina, Japan, Georgia and Italy.

The United States and Canada are favourites to get the two Americas places, while Fiji, Samoa and Tonga are traditionally the strongest teams in Oceania.

Eddie Jones, England head coach, who was in charge of Japan when the Brave Blossoms overcame South Africa in Brighton in 2015, described the draw as "very exciting".

"It's very hard to access where teams are going to be in two years time", Schmidt admitted, as Ireland still await on two of their potential opponents.

"I have never felt so fired up than I feel now", said Abe.

"To win the World Cup you have to win seven games".

The current World Champions have been drawn in Pool B along with 1995 World Cup winners South Africa, six-time World Cup rivals Italy, the victor of Africa 1 and the Repechage winners from the qualifying tournament.

The 2019 hosts stunned South Africa two years ago and were widely praised for their entertaining brand of rugby. The draw was kinder to Wales, who have been matched alongside Australia again and Georgia.

"If you want to be the best team in the world then you've got to beat all the best teams", said Haskell.

The World Cup runs from 20 September to 2 November 2019.

South Africa's slump to seventh in the world means the 1995 and 2007 champions will face the All Blacks in the pool stage for the first time in a blockbuster clash.

"Truth be told, no matter how the balls got pulled out, you know it's going to be about getting it right, turning up and making sure you play the best you can", he said.

"It's not a tough group, it's a good group", said Jones, who has led England to 17 wins in 18 games and two straight Six Nations titles.

They have won both of their World Cup games so far against Argentina, but the Pumas are much improved and reached the semi-finals in 2015.

Scotland and Ireland will meet each other in the early stages, as they have been put in the same pool, alongside the hosts Japan.
