XE SV Project 8 is the most extreme performance Jaguar ever

Jaguar Turned Its Smallest Car Into The Most Powerful Jag Ever Made

Today, Jaguar announced the XE SV Project 8 as the "most powerful road legal Jaguar in history". As for the Jaguar XE SV Project 8, the engine will probably be the most powerful, featuring 600 horses. Jaguar's above claims would mean that the mad XE will be faster than the F-Type SVR, so expect 0-100 km/h below 3.5 seconds and top speed in excess of 320 km/h. Step one was the F-Type Project 7, but that pales in comparison to the prototype you see here.

The managing director responsible for special operations at Jaguar, John Edwards, released a statement saying that the time was just right for the SVO to offer the best performance for road cars in the history of the company.

The auto, from Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations (SVO), packs a 600PS 5.0-litre V8 engine and is the firm's most powerful road-legal auto to date. The specialist JLR SVO department is going to build 300 of them, for global distribution, in its second production auto project after 2014's Jaguar F-Type Project 7.

Jaguar is yet to reveal more as development, which includes high-speed testing at the Nürburgring, is ongoing. Jaguar has remained tight-lipped on when the vehicle will arrive, but it's expected to make its public debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in June where it'll likely also be driven up the hill. As the name implies, it is the second limited-edition SVO model following the F-Type Project 7 in 2014.

Jaguar has confirmed it is working on an insane new performance sedan based on the XE, called the XE SV Project 8, which is being developed via the SVO division. With production numbers so limited, Jaguar is likely to be forced to heavily vet potential customers, rooting out its truest fans when deciding to whom to sell a auto.

This exclusivity and the fact the vehicle is hand built will send prices soaring well above that of the regular XE range.
