Former UFC Fighter Tim Hague Reportedly Brain Dead After Boxing Match

Hague suffered a brain haemorrhage sustained after the KO 79 boxing match-up against former Edmonton Eskimos player Adam Braidwood at the Shaw Conference Centre.

Saturday morning, unfortunate news surfaced regarding UFC veteran Tim Hague, who was placed in the Intensive Care Unit following a devastating knockout in a boxing match Friday evening.

"It is with incredible sadness, sorrow and heartbreak to report that Tim has passed away today", Hague's sister, Jackie Neil said in a statement Sunday. We will miss him with so greatly.

The world of combat sports in undoubtedly a risky one and anyone who enters this sport is risking their life and that was the case for former UFC heavyweight star Tim Hague.

"He was so strong, a fighter right to the very end". According to various reports, Hague was clearly not right backstage and was rushed to the hospital.

He fought five times under the UFC banner from 2009 to 2011.

The 33-year-old Hague, who grew up on a farm in Boyle, Alta., was a former UFC fighter where he was known as "The Thrashing Machine".

'Tim is now in a coma.

Hague, a school teacher in Canada, started his MMA career in 2006 and won 10 of his first 11 fights, including his UFC debut - a first-round submission of Pat Barry at UFC 98 in Las Vegas. Hague entered the bout with Braidwood with a 1-2 overall record and was knocked out in December.

The fight lasted two rounds before a left hook knocked Hague to the ground. He went on to lose his next four bouts inside the Octagon, however.
