Ben Affleck refutes Batman rumors: 'I'm really blown away and excited'm

It's wonderful. I know there was speculation and rumors about me not directing.

Matt Reeves is now in the process of gathering a writing team - rumored to include his Apes collaborator, to start The Batman from scratch, but it appears Affleck will be along for the ride.

In fact, Affleck pointed out that he spoke to Warner Bros. heads Kevin Tsujihara, Sue Kroll and Toby Emmerich about the role.

"I would be a f***ing ape on the ground for Matt Reeves", Affleck said, nodding to Reeves' work on the last two Planet of the Apes movies.

Following a report that the 44-year-old actor was leaving his role of Bruce Wayne/Batman in future movies, Affleck shot down the rumors during the Justice League panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday.

He also specifically said he's excited to work with Reeves, and that he's "100% on board" with him and his vision for The Batman. Reeves has dropped a script by Affleck and Geoff Johns, and Affleck once was attached to direct himself.

The film, titled The Batman, doesn't have a release date yet, but Reeves is already seeing the big picture.

"I have ideas about an arc, but really, the important thing is just to start... you have to start with one", Reeves told Fandango.

The move came a day after The Hollywood Reporter reported that the studio was exploring options to potentially set the stage for a Batman recasting. Considering that the studio also announced today that the solo Flash movie is now an adaptation of Flashpoint, that transition could have been made easier. The "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" actor confirmed his intentions to remain playing the "coolest f--g character in any universe".

Batman Affleck is here to stay. Justice League opens November 17.
