"So numerous iconic moments that happened in the '80s I was involved in", Spielberg told the Comic-Con audience.

The film is set in 2045, with the world on the brink of chaos and collapse. Wade Watts finds the first clue and starts a race for the Egg.

Spielberg has previously told EW that he decided not to include references to his own past movies in the film, but he did allow one - the time-traveling DeLorean from Back to the Future, which he executive produced.

The movie is based on the debut novel from Fanboys screenwriter Ernie Cline, which is set in a near-future where virtual reality is commonplace.

The film stars Tye Sheridan, Olivia Cooke, Ben Mendelsohn, Mark Rylance and Simon Pegg, with the screenplay being written by the original author himself.

Steven Spielberg's next film, Ready Player One, is looking very promising.

Ready Player One hits theaters on March 30, 2018.
