Jaguar Unveils Range-Topping XJR575

The new Jaguar does 0-60mph in 4.2 seconds

This is enough to take the XJR575 from 0-62mph in a claimed 4.4 seconds - an exact match for the Mercedes-AMG S63. XJR575 badging appears on various places around the vehicle, and large 20-inch alloys finished in black fill the car's wheel arches.

In addition to this, the central console now packs a larger 10-inch touchscreen and includes multi-touch functionality, like most modern smartphones, allowing drivers to pinch and zoom for the first time.

Jaguar has updated its XJ limousine for 2018 and a powerful range-topping XJR575 model.

Its 5.0 litre V8 supercharged engine produces 700nm of torque, while the Electronic Active Differential offers control of power delivery and maximises traction. Lasting just 44 seconds - the time it takes for the new four-door to reach its top speed - Burgess gave quick-fire answers to the vehicle and himself. In comparison, the XJR has a top speed of 174 miles per hour.

The 2018 Jaguar XJ range, including the new XJR575, will be released in South Africa late in 2017; pricing will be announced closer to the local launch. That's not all. The XJR575 will also feature some tailor-made detailing like a rear spoiler, side sills, front bumper and lower air intakes featuring Gloss Black surrounds. Buyers have a choice of two colors: Velocity Blue or Satin Corris Gray.

Ian Callum, Jaguar director of design, said:"The Jaguar XJ is the largest model in our saloon auto line-up and retains the physical presence and graceful design customers expect from a Jaguar flagship".

Safety tech has also been given a boost with the inclusion of forward cross traffic alert, lane keep assist and driver fatigue alert across the range.

Jaguar's new XJR575 is its fastest sedan to date. It can go very quickly, but it does so with the serene comfort customers expect from a Jaguar saloon.

We're currently waiting on word for local pricing, spec and availability, but the XJ575 is available to order now in the United Kingdom, from £93,710 (NZ$164,030).
