Ravindra Jadeja was adjudged the Man of the Match award for his five-wicket heroics in the second innings.

Dimuth Karunaratne has become the latest player to advocate for a stronger first-class competition in Sri Lanka, suggesting that India's comparatively sturdy domestic infrastructure has seen them thrive in Test cricket. Brief scores: India 622/9 decl beat Sri Lanka 386 all out (Karunaratne 141, Mathews 36) and 183 all out, by an innings and 53 runs.

Ashwin forced Angelo Mathews (26) into giving a close-in catch to Chetenshwar Pujara and Jadeja bowled Dhananjaya de Silva.

Cheteshwar Pujara who was playing in his 50th Test match has completed 4000 Test runs.

Dilruwan Perera (17) was then stumped as he tried to give Jadeja the charge.

The wicket-keeper had a solid time behind the stumps as well as scoring a solid 67 in India's innings to round-off a fine performance. It seems like that but in reality it was just previous year, during July-August, that they won the three Tests by impressive margins - 106, 229 and 163 runs.

Mendis also survived a caught behind appeal off Jadeja via DRS as the ball touched the thigh pad and was never even close to the edge. The off-spinner snared 3 more wickets and completed a 5 wicket haul handing India a massive 439 run lead before skipper Kohli made a decision to enforce the follow on. This can happen for two sessions because of momentum, but when the day ended yesterday [with only two wickets taken in 60 overs], we spoke about coming out fresh, [and that] they have to do this again for two sessions. Things went worse when Nuwan Pradeep walked out of the match due to the hamstring.

Skipper Virat Kohli, who was not so sure about Pujara's role when India played here the last time, declared the batsman has taken his game to another level.

Virat Kohli explains how team India is on a winning streak now. So, the Sri Lankan collapse begins as Team India are back in the game.

Spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was the star bowler for India as he picked up five wickets for 69 in 16.4 overs. On Saturday, Kusal Mendis (110) had showed grit and determination to dig the hosts out of a massive hole on Day 3.

It was Hardik Pandya, who gave Kohli's team the much-needed breakthrough, snapping a solid 191-run stand towards the end of the day.

Dimuth Karunaratne and the debutant Malinda Pushpakumara claimed their maiden test wickets in the morning session to bring some relief for them. However, the pressure will be on Karunaratne to build on from his hard-fought unbeaten 92. As a spinner, it is always a challenge when a batsman plays a sweep shot on a regular basis. Once he scores runs, then he gets confidence with the ball also.
