Trump should have been 'much harsher' with Charlottesville statement, Scaramucci says

Scaramucci Speaks Out After Leaving WH: Trump Should Move Away from 'Bannonbart Nonsense'

In his first televised appearance since he was ousted from his White House post, Scaramucci told This Week host George Stephanopoulos that - were he still Trump's communications director - he would not have written the fiercely criticized statement Trump gave on Saturday, shortly after the auto attack that killed a 32-year-old woman and injured several more. "And if he doesn't do that, you're going to see inertia and you're going to see this resistance from more of the establishment senators that he needs to curry favor with".

"I wouldn't have recommended that statement", Mr Scaramucci said of President Trump's decision to criticise violence "on many sides" but not clearly condemn white supremacists.

Anthony Scaramucci walks back to the West Wing of the White House in Washington on July 25.

"If the president really wants to execute the legislative agenda that I think is so promising for the American people, the lower middle-class people and the middle-class people, then he has to move away from that "Bannon-bart" nonsense", he said.

Scaramucci spoke to ABC News Chief Anchor George Stephanopoulos on ABC News' "This Week" today in his first television interview since his whirlwind 11-day stint in the White House.

He also insulted chief strategist Steve Bannon in a profanity-filled rant.

Scaramucci is still a supporter of Trump's, saying that the president "can be a tough coach at times" but "this guy's a victor". But you've also got this sort of Bannonbart influence in there which I think is a snag on the president. "The president has a very good idea of the people who are undermining his agenda, that are serving their own interests", Scaramucci added.

National security adviser H.R. McMaster was asked three times by NBC's Chuck Todd on Sunday whether he can work with Bannon in the White House.

The "many sides" part is what drew a strong rebuke from those who believed the president needed to specifically lay blame at the feet of the "alt-right" gathering to protest the removal of a statute of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee.

While Trump used the word "bigotry" in his remarks, he drew criticism from members of both political parties for not specifically rebuking white nationalists or supremacists. The Washington Post reported that the move was at the request of new White House Chief of Staff John F. Kelly. "The president's going to do what he wants to do, how he wants to do it, but I think it's important for the people around him to give them direct advice, to be blunt with him".
